  • What to write in a bridal shower card

What to write in a bridal shower card

A bridal shower is one of the most exciting and fun events that are organized in the lead up to the big day. They also offer a chance for the bride and her close friends, family and colleagues to enjoy some real girly fun on the journey to the wedding.

If you have been invited and want to bring a bridal shower card but aren’t quite sure what message to include, read our step-by-step guide for some real inspiration. You’ll be on your way in no time.

    What is a bridal shower?

The concept of a bridal shower can be traced right back to 16th century Europe, when it was established as an alternative to the dowry system. For example, if the bride-to-be was very poor and her family were unable to provide a dowry then her friends and family would contribute small gifts or some money to help the newlyweds start their married life. Likewise, if the bride’s father did not approve of the marriage and refused to pay, friends and family would rally around and help the couple.

In the United States, bridal showers, as we know them today, began to appear in urban areas towards the end of the 19th century, mainly among the upper middle classes. By the 1930s, bridal showers had spread across all areas of America.

A bridal shower today is usually held in the afternoon or evening, and is often organized by the Maid of Honor and perhaps a couple of the bride’s close friends a few weeks before the actual wedding.

There is definitely a party atmosphere and just like in the 19th century, friends and family still ‘shower’ the bride-to-be with bridal cards and small gifts (though not from a parasol – read on to find out why!). These typically include little luxuries and personal tokens, and you’ll also find lots of wedding themed decorations, party food and cake, champagne and other goodies.

Traditionally speaking, showers are girly events, but there are no rules banning friends of any gender from attending.

    Fun fact

The word ‘shower’ may originate from the Victorian era when gifts were placed inside a parasol, which was then opened, showering the bride-to-be with the presents.

Why should you send a card?

Whether you’re attending or not, a bridal shower invite is a thoughtful gesture, and a bridal shower card is customary. It’s also a great way to express your excitement about upcoming nuptials, and an opportunity to offer your help in any upcoming duties – whether you are a member of the bridal party or not. It’s especially important to send a card if you’re unable to attend the shower – maybe you live far away and will be there for the wedding but not for events in the run up to the big day.

What kind of card should I send?

There’s a good chance you’ve already sent an engagement card, and you’ll probably be sending a wedding card too. So although bridal shower-specific cards tend to be hard to find, a congratulations card is generally a great place to start. TouchNote has an incredible range of cards for every wedding occasion. Take a look at our “congratulations on your wedding” cards and go from there.

    Messages for a friend

Whether you have known them for just about ever or your friendship is reasonably new, a friend’s wedding is wonderful and exciting. You know how long they’ve loved their person and now you’re at their bridal shower helping prepare them for the big day. Capture your joy and excitement with a thoughtful message telling them how thrilled you are for them.

If you’re a very close friend, you will probably want to include something intimate and more sentimental. However, if you aren’t that close, you can still make your wishes heartfelt and sincere. Or you might want to write something fun and funny – whatever you decide will be right for you.

“Congratulations to my very best friend – I could not be more thrilled for you, and wish you a wonderful wedding day and a life filled with happiness and love.”

“Wishing you a fun day today, a wonderful wedding day, and a lifetime of happiness. I am there for you whenever you need me in this busy and exciting time.”

“Two of my most favorite people in the world are getting married, and I am so happy for you – you are perfect for each other. Congratulations and all my love to you both. Have a great day today!”

    Messages for family

Whether the bride is a daughter, sister, cousin, aunt or niece, this wedding is going to be a big moment for them – and for you too, as you welcome a new person into your family. Express your love for them, reminisce on the years you’ve spent together and let them know how excited and happy you are as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

“Happy bridal shower day Sis! Thanks for being a brilliant big sister and I know you are going to be the most beautiful bride ever. I’m so looking forward to being a bridesmaid and sharing the joy on your big day!”

“Congratulations on your special day, cousin – may you be ‘showered’ with gifts! Remember when we used to play weddings all those years ago? Now you’re getting married for real, and I couldn’t be happier for you.”

“To a brilliant, smart and beautiful daughter who has filled my life with joy. I know you will have an incredible future with (name) and I wish you a lifetime of love and contentment.”

    Messages for co-workers

Though a co-worker might not be your closest friend, getting an invite to their bridal shower is still a big gesture. Keep your message sweet, short and simple. Tell them you’re excited to be working with the future Mrs X and that you’ll be there with cake when they get back from their honeymoon.

“Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and thank you for including me in your bridal shower. I hope you have a lovely day today.”

“Best wishes and good luck for the future from your colleagues in (department). Hope you have lots of fun today.”

“Showering you with warm wishes – good luck and all the best. I look forward to seeing you back in the office after your honeymoon and hearing all about it!”

    Messages for anyone

Not every bride will be your best friend or sister; sometimes the invite comes from a family friend, a distant cousin or a partner’s friend. Even though you’re not close right now, this invite is a chance to bond and deepen your relationship. Cards like these might not be the most sentimental, but that doesn’t mean they have to be generic.

“Best wishes to you both for a brilliant future. May your bridal shower be just the beginning of an exciting and wonderful adventure.”

“Your big day is almost here! Many warm wishes and all the very best for a lovely wedding.”

“Thank you for making me part of your wedding journey, I wish you every happiness as you begin your new life.”

If you want to get it just right and need some ideas then read on. Our comprehensive guide will help you to choose the ultimate Valentine’s card, and by using TouchNote’s special design features you can create something extra special that will touch your loved one’s heart.

Why do we celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day is celebrated each year on the 14th of February. It’s a day devoted to romance and love when people show they care for another person by sending them cards and loving messages, often accompanied by gifts such as chocolates, candy or flowers.

Valentine’s Day is a very old tradition, thought to have originated from Roman times when a festival called Lupercalia was celebrated in the middle of February. The day was subsequently named after a famous saint – St Valentine. There are many different myths and stories about the saint and his ill-fated love affair. However, the day as we know it now didn’t actually become a holiday associated with love until the 14th century.

Today, millions of romantic Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged across the world each year, as well as friendship and kindness cards sent out to close friends, family and even pets. No holiday or event (apart from Christmas) is more associated with the sending and giving of cards

    Valentine’s fun facts

The oldest record of a Valentine being sent was a poem written by a French medieval Duke named Charles to his wife in 1415.

The custom of giving Valentine’s Day flowers is thought to date back to the 17th century, with red roses symbolizing true love.

The first mass-produced Valentine’s cards were introduced in the 1840s.

How do we celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Couples will have their own special ways of celebrating Valentine’s Day, including romantic dates or getaways, mixtapes, chocolates, flowers, a foodie night in, and lots more. Gifts of flowers or a single red rose are often sent with romantic messages to loved ones, and couples usually spend some special time together. However, one thing all love birds do is send a card – it’s the universal standard and an essential token for any couple on Valentine’s Day.

And across the globe different cultures have developed their own traditions for this festival, including leaving lollies and gifts for children and others, and performing acts of appreciation between friends. Children also get in on the Valentine’s action: in many schools, it has become customary for young students to bring in Valentine’s Day cards to swap with classmates. If you want to dazzle your Valentine with a gift along with your card then be sure to browse our beautiful collection of curated gifts.

    Why make it personal?

A personalized Valentine’s Day card isn’t just for the day itself, as they’re often kept for years and years as mementos of love. So be sure to put some time, thought and passion into making something truly unique – you’re creating a magical memory for someone that will last for decades.

Consider the design you would like to create and the message that you want your loved one to receive. You could go all-out romantic, or perhaps something funny is more for you and your other half? Something personal that reflects your relationship is definitely the key here.

You may prefer to illustrate the card with a photo of the two of you, or one of your loved one. Or if photos aren’t really for you then begin with a designed card and add those special personal touches, such as love hearts or stickers, to create a personalized card that ticks all your Valentine’s boxes.

    Finding “the” photo

Using a photo in your personalized Valentine’s card can bring back special memories of the happy times you have shared. Celebrate one of your special moments – perhaps at a festival, on a day out, wedding day, engagement or romantic trip. Maybe you have a photo of your loved one that means something to you or is significant to both of you – it could be your all-time favorite photo of them, the place you met, your signature meal, a cherished vacation, or the first selfie you ever took together.

    Getting crafty

From an inside joke as the caption for the photo to using cute stickers from TouchNote’s love category, there are masses of different options for you in our app. You can even insert your photo into a heart-filled frame, or choose to add a design alongside your photo. We can give you the tools to make a truly original masterpiece that’s just their style.

    Spoil them a little

Though your card is sure to touch the heart of the one you love, adding a small gift will always be a lovely surprise and they’re bound to appreciate the thought that went into it. How about some candy or flowers? Or perhaps you can find something that will have real meaning to your loved one? Luckily you can do all your Valentine’s loving in one place with delicious TouchNote gifts, all sent together to make a lovely surprise.

    Start your Valentine’s right

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to celebrate love of all kinds, so why not send thoughtful cards, messages and gifts to all your friends and family, and spread those loving vibes around?

  • 5 cards that say “you’ve got this”

5 cards that say “you’ve got this”

January 2023 is around the corner and now is the time to make (and keep) those New Year’s resolutions, whether that is trying to live a healthier lifestyle, lose some weight, find a new job, move across the country, go back to school, or something else entirely.

Resolutions are tough to keep and the people around you will need all the support they can get to bring their dreams to life and achieve their goals for this new year.

There are plenty of different ways to help, but a great idea to give your friends ongoing support is to send an inspirational postcard that says ‘you’ve got this!’.

Keep reading for our shortlist of TouchNote postcards and greetings cards that will cover every ‘you’ve got this’ situation for 2023.

    Hype them up

Firstly, let them know how amazing they are. Tell them they have all the skills, willpower, and strength needed to achieve all of their goals, even when they are having a ‘down’ day and feel demotivated.

Your support and faith in them will make all the difference. As well as boosting their confidence and self-belief, an encouraging message from you will uplift and brighten their day.

This TouchNote card says it all and whether you want to include an inspirational message or not, your friend will know they truly are a ‘top banana’.

As Walt Disney once said: “If you can dream it, you can do it.”

Words of wisdom can make all the difference

When the going gets tough, a little advice and a few wise words are sometimes all we need to stay on track, re-evaluate where we are, and where we ultimately want to be.

If wise words aren’t really your jam, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with our range of beautiful postcards, complete with their own thoughtful and inspiring messages. So, when you need a little help to muster some eloquent wisdom, this awesome card will strike just the right note for a friend who is struggling or needs some upliftment.

It’s easy to lose heart when you think your efforts aren’t getting the results you want or the hard work doesn’t seem to be paying off. So, when you start to see this happening to a loved one, don’t delay. Now is the perfect time for a postcard full of kindness to slip into their mailbox. They’ll be back on top of their 2023 resolutions in no time at all – guaranteed!

    And remember…

“Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A world of optimism and hope. A ‘you can do it’ when things are tough.” Richard M. DeVos, billionaire and businessman (1926-2018)

Let them know you’ve got their back

Being a support for someone in their wobbly moments is both rewarding and extremely valuable. While you may know you’ve got their back in good times and bad, make sure they know it too.

A text or something on social media is fine, but a thoughtful card and message sent from the heart has way more meaning. A personalized postcard, with a photo of the two of you doing something amazing and memorable, lets them know that in the hardest moments and during the biggest wins, you’ll be right there.

Everyone wants to feel recognized and affirmed for putting in 100%. A cute and thoughtful card tells someone that you’ve noticed how hard they have been working and gives them a few warm fuzzies inside.

Will Smith says it perfectly: “If the world attacks and you slide off track, remember one fact, I got your back.”

    Provide comic relief

Laughter is the best medicine in the world, but sometimes it’s hard to raise a smile when you feel like you’re fighting a losing battle with a New Year’s resolution. Harness the power of the giggle and crack out the puns with some amusing little cards. Your loved one will be laughing again in no time at all.

And, if you are looking for a humorous message to add, but you’re all out of ideas, how about borrowing this one?

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” Dalai Lama

    Say nothing at all

They say a picture paints a thousand words, so when you can’t find the words, sometimes a bright and cheery postcard is all that’s needed. It can sit on the mantle or fridge door and act as a colorful reminder of the good things in life.

Choose one of our any occasion cards to bring a ray of sunshine into a friend’s day by sending them a beautifully designed picture postcard. Remind them that you’re thinking of them and believe that ‘they really have got this’.

It’s quick and easy to show your love and support for friends and loved ones who are working hard to keep their 2023 resolutions. A thoughtful postcard lets them know how much you care and that you have their back, through the good times and the bad.

  • How to make Blue Monday brighter

How to make Blue Monday brighter

The third Monday of January 2023 is here. You’re back at work and that fantastic Christmas you had is a distant memory. The credit card bills have arrived, it’s cold and dreary outside, and you’ve maybe broken one, if not all, of your New Year’s resolutions – yes, Blue Monday has arrived.

But, just because it’s Blue Monday doesn’t mean we are destined to be blue. With a little thought and creativity, you’ll put a smile on the face of someone you care about, spread some kindness, and brighten your day.

At TouchNote, we have put our heads together and come up with some great ideas to beat those blues and boost your mood. You’ll bring a little cheer to everyone around you on the most depressing day of the year, whether they are friends, family, loved ones, or colleagues.

    What is Blue Monday?

Blue Monday was coined by a travel company in the early noughties. It refers to the third Monday of January and is thought to be the saddest day of the year.

Why? It’s been three weeks since Christmas, belts have tightened both physically and financially, the weather is gray and drab, and there doesn’t seem to be anything to look forward to in the long term.

Thankfully, it’s not all gloom and doom. There are so many ways you can lift the spirits of your nearest and dearest, as well as anyone who may be having a difficult time. Here are a few ways you can spread the love this January.

Post-Christmas check-up on family and friends

Blue Monday is a perfect opportunity to focus on the fact that January can be a tough month all around for many of us and a little kindness can go a long way when you are feeling a bit low.

Why not start the New Year by checking in with your loved ones? Pop a ‘sending you a big hug’ card across to your Mom or Dad. Or, send a ‘just because you’re awesome’ card to a friend.

Reaching out to family, friends, and loved ones can remind them that they are important to you and that you are thinking about them. It’s the little boost that could lift a friend out of a low.

There are so many inspirational ways to build good karma and help you and yours stay positive and lighthearted when life seems to be a bit too much of a grind.

Ok, but how can I show my support?

Support for your family and friends can come in all shapes and sizes.

Why not send a thoughtful card, funny postcard, or even a small gift to make someone’s day? It’s always a real treat to find a card in your mailbox and a gift, however small, shows how much you care for the people in your life – not only that, it’ll seem like Christmas all over again.

You could also invite your friends for coffee, cake, and a catch-up. How about arranging a family lunch, or sending a text with a funny photo that’s guaranteed to raise a smile whatever your mood?

At work, why not suggest a ‘bring your dog to work day’ or ask the manager to treat everyone to lunch? Another idea is to set up a well-being suggestion box at the office for everyone to submit their mood-boosting ideas.
If you suspect that someone is struggling, you could buy them something bright and cheerful for their desk. You can always keep it anonymous if you want to.

    Sending a card

Sending cards to friends, family, or a loved one is a great way to remind them of all the fabulous occasions you celebrated during 2022. Dinners, BBQs, days at the beach, birthdays, Thanksgiving, Halloween – there are so many great events to choose from.

It’s really easy to put together a personalized photo card at TouchNote and create a lasting memory for those you love to look back on all year around. Plus, it will remind them that they have it all to look forward to again this coming year.
And, if you’re not into photos and custom-made designs, you can check out our awesome everyday kindness range. We have something for every TouchNoter.

    Sending a gift

Gifts are an awesome way to say ‘just because you’re you’. They do not have to be expensive grand gestures.
It really is the thought that counts here. After all, whose day doesn’t get so much better with the addition of a little chocolate decadence, some tasty biscuits, sweet treats, candy, or fresh flowers? At TouchNote, we have a superb range of day-making goodies for all budgets to suit just about everyone you know.

    Digital check-in

While a physical reminder is usually the best, a little digital nudge is still a thoughtful way to show you care.

Send your friend a photo of you both, or a nice message asking how they are. Take the opportunity to share a bit about what’s going on for you too if you want. It’s a great way to connect and decompress on Blue Monday.

Winter is here and January’s bills have formed a scary-looking pile. The next day off may be months away and your New Year’s resolutions may have already flopped, but don’t worry.
You can crush those Blue Monday feels and spread some kindness and positivity by sending heartwarming TouchNote cards and gifts to the special people in your life.

  • What to write in a New Year’s card

What to write in a New Year’s card

New Year’s Eve is almost here and everyone is still in a holiday mood after all the Christmas festivities. It’s time to party with family and friends, and wish everyone around you a happy New Year.

On top of all the celebrations, it’s also the perfect time to wish the people in your life the best for the year to come by sending a special New Year’s card.

You may want your card to reflect everything that’s happened over the past year. But, more importantly, you’ll want to send your friends and family positive vibes for the year ahead and tell them how much you’re looking forward to making more great memories with them in 2023.

The right message can make all the difference and as there’s so much you could say, you may be wondering just what to write. Never fear, by following our guide to writing the best happy New Year’s card, you’ll soon find some inspiration.

Why send a New Year’s card

A New Year’s card is a good way for you to recall the most memorable moments of 2022 and share them with your loved ones. You can also cast your thoughts to the coming year and all the fresh experiences that you hope it will bring.

A New Year is a time to consider the ambitions, dreams, and goals you would like to achieve in the next 12 months. Send a card that will inspire your loved ones and remind them that you’re there for them, now and in the future. Let them know how thankful you are for their friendship, love, and support.

    New Year fun fact

The birth of the first baby of the New Year has been celebrated since around 600 BC. In Ancient Greece, the new baby would be paraded around a town or village to honor the God of Fertility and Wine, Dionysus.

    Writing something from the heart

Make sure that the people in your life realize how much you value them by writing something wholehearted in your New Year’s card. You could reminisce about the things they have achieved and wish them luck in any new adventures. Or, perhaps highlight the memories you’ve made together and tell them how excited you are to make even more in 2023.

Let your loved ones know how grateful you are that they are around and that you’re looking forward to spending time with them next year.

    A few examples include:

“A special New Year’s wish for a very special person – I hope that all your dreams come true for you in the year to come.”

“May 2023 be filled with all the sunshine and happiness that you deserve – Happy New Year.”

“Here’s to making as many fun and wonderful memories in 2023 as we did in 2022 – I am so blessed to have you in my life.”

“Happy New Year to my gorgeous family, who brighten up my life every day of the year. I hope that 2023 brings you everything you hope for.”

    Writing something funny

If you’d rather send a New Year’s card that’s humorous, make them laugh by recalling the funny and/or embarrassing memories and moments you shared in 2022. Remind them that even though the year may change, they’ll still be the same goofball you know and love.

Here are some ideas for you:

“Happy New Year, Bro/Sis. Can’t wait to start annoying you all over again for another whole year!”

“Happy 2023 – here’s hoping all your worries last as long as your New Year’s resolutions usually do!”

“Here’s to a New Year filled with happiness, positivity, and hope (I would rather have fame, wealth, and buckets of champagne, but I’ll take what I can get).”

“A New Year and new beginnings – I’m looking forward to breaking all our resolutions together again and having some more fun in 2023.”

“I hope your New Year brings you happiness, joy, and love because let’s be honest, your crying face is not a good look.”

“I promise this year that I won’t let you do too many stupid things alone. Happy New Year, my Partner in Crime!”

    Borrow a quote

You always have the option to send an amusing or inspirational quote from somebody else. There are plenty to choose from. Let’s face it, sometimes the best words come from someone else, so why not steal the wisdom of the wise poets, comedians, and others that have come before us?

Here are some to get you started:

”Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.” Oprah Winfrey

“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering ‘it will be happier’.” Alfred Tennyson

“Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each New Year find you a better man.” Benjamin Franklin

“An optimist stays up till midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.” Bill Vaughn

“You know how I always dread the whole year? Well, this time I’m only going to dread one day at a time.” Charlie Brown

    Say it with pictures

There’s no better way to get excited about the future than looking at the fun you’ve already had. So, wish your friends and loved ones a happy New Year by sharing some of your best memories of 2022 in a photo card.

With the option of including up to six photos, a TouchNote personalized photo card is ideal for capturing all those moments that have made the past year so special.

Get started today by choosing some of your best pictures and designing a New Year’s card that will be treasured by the people you had so much fun with during 2022.

Wish all the special people around you happiness and good fortune in the year to come. Send a personalized New Year’s card and remind them just how much you have valued their love and support over the past year. To finish your card, sign off with a positive message about the future, saying how much you are looking forward to making great memories in the year to come.

  • What to write in a leaving card

What to write in a leaving card

Life is full of major milestones, and when a friend or loved one decides that they need a big change, either by moving miles away, changing jobs or traveling for an extended period, you’ll want to wish them all the luck in the world, even though you’ll really miss them.

A leaving card with a personal message lets them know you wish them every success in their new adventure and that you’re going to miss them when they’re gone.
Commemorating the end of an era and celebrating a new chapter calls for an encouraging and appreciative message in your leaving card, which can be a daunting task. If that’s the case, take the pressure off right now by checking out our essential guide, which gives you handy tips on striking just the right tone for you.

Why should you send a leaving card?

In our lives, we’re constantly saying hello and goodbye to family members, friends, loved ones, and colleagues, as they embark on new adventures and opportunities in their lives.

Whether it’s close friends, family, colleagues, or your favorite neighbor who is making the move, let them know how much the relationship has meant to you with a leaving card that wishes them every success in the next, exciting chapter of their lives. No matter if the move is career-driven, inspired by wanderlust, or another step toward their home-sweet-home, we have the words to help your message hit the right note.

    For colleagues moving on

When colleagues at work decide to move on, the type of leaving card message you write will depend on the relationship you have with them. Did you chat over coffee, meet for lunch, socialize after work, or just exchange a friendly ‘hello’ in the elevator?

If you are work besties, you’ll want something intimate and perhaps even funny. Try reminiscing over your shared antics from the past years. However, when the relationship is more formal or you don’t know them well, you can keep the message short but sincere, wishing them all the best.

“It’s been a real pleasure working with you. I wish you the very best of luck in your new position.”

“I can’t believe you’re leaving me here in this madhouse – you better have bought cakes or I want my money back.”

“It’s been great working with you – well, it would have been great if you’d actually done some work!”

“You have been a brilliant and important member of the team – you’re going to be missed.”

    For friends going travelling

If your friends or family have decided to travel, you can tell them how excited you are for them with a leaving card that wishes them a fabulous trip. Tell them how much you’ll miss them while they’re away and remind them that keeping in touch is easy. They can even send you custom-made TouchNote postcards from all the incredible, exotic places they visit.

“Wishing you all the fun and enjoyment possible on this fabulous adventure – don’t forget to send lots of postcards!”

“Missing you already and you haven’t even left yet! Seriously, have a fantastic time and we look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.”

“What an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience – make the most of this wonderful opportunity. I hope it’s everything you’ve dreamed of. Insta everything and come back safe.”

“So happy for you and so jealous! Have a wonderful time and stay in touch.”

    For loved ones moving away

From neighbors and housemates to sisters, friends, and loved ones, a cross-country move is a big change that affects everyone around them. By sending a leaving card with a message straight from the heart, you can wish them luck and success. Tell them that no matter the distance, you’re always there for them. And, most important of all, remind them to visit often and soon!

“My favorite sister is moving away – what am I going to do without you? Enjoy this new chapter in your life but come back and visit soon.”

“You have been incredible neighbors. I hope you find lots of success, happiness, and love in your new home – good luck with everything.”

“No matter how far you go, you will be in our hearts and minds. Don’t forget us and you are welcome to come back and see us any time you like.”

    Don’t forget the photo

Whatever leaving card you are planning to send, don’t forget to add a photo of the two of you as a souvenir. In that way, they have a piece of you to take with them on their next adventure.

Pick a photo that shows a happy memory for you both, or one that expresses love and warmth. It’ll remind them that they are never far from your thoughts and give them comfort if homesickness strikes.

When friends, family, loved ones, or colleagues decide to make a major move to take on new challenges and opportunities, don’t forget to send a leaving card wishing them every success.

Encourage them not to forget you, reassure them that they’ve got this, and tell them to keep in touch wherever they are in the world. You can also add a small heartfelt gift to take in their suitcase as a thoughtful final touch.

  • What to write in a gender reveal card

What to write in a gender reveal card

The gender reveal is a fairly new trend that has become extremely popular. The expectant parents, who are already massively excited to be pregnant, celebrate the unveiling of the new baby’s sex by having a party and inviting all their loved ones to join them for the big reveal.

If you’re unsure of what to write in your gender reveal card, don’t stress. Keep reading and we’ll walk you through gender reveal etiquette and how best to celebrate them.

What exactly is a gender reveal?

Gender reveals are a further celebration of pregnancy and a way for expectant parents to include friends, family, and loved ones in the exciting journey leading up to the birth of their new baby. The craze began in 2008 and, as we mentioned, has been growing in popularity since.

A gender reveal party is a celebration where the expectant parents reveal the sex of the baby to their family and friends (if they don’t know already). But, it can also be where the parents wait and leave it to the day of the party to find out too.

Unlike a baby shower, which is usually reserved for the mom-to-be and her girlfriends, this is a more casual event with family and friends of all sexes attending.

Being invited to a gender reveal means friends and family can share in one of the most thrilling pieces of news – whether the happy couple is expecting a boy or a girl. It’s the perfect excuse for a party!

Why send a gender reveal card?

If you’re going to attend a gender reveal, you’ll need a card. Bringing a gift is also a great way to express your happiness and support for mom and/or ‘dad’ at this incredible time in their lives. This day is a chance to reassure them that whatever happens, they are going to be the greatest parents ever to their new baby.

What you write will depend on the relationship you have with the parents. You may be a family member like a sibling, aunt, or grandparent. Or, you might be a distant relative, anxious to express your good wishes. You could also be a close friend or work colleague.

Whatever your relationship, there is no wrong or right thing to say in your gender reveal card, as long as it comes from your heart. You could express your love for them with something emotional or you may want to add some humor. Either way, you get the chance to wish them well and feel that you are a part of this happy time.

    Write something heartfelt

If you want to write something in your gender reveal card that strikes a meaningful chord,  remember to highlight how much good they have coming to them. Write that their new baby will be perfect and loved, whether boy or girl.

“Your beautiful baby is on the way, and whether pink or blue, all your dreams will come true.”

“We are full of joy for you, and whether it’s ballet shoes or hockey skates, you can be sure your little star will be wrapped in love.”

“Prince or princess, we can’t wait to find out what the adorable new addition to our family will be. Congratulations to you both.”

    Write something funny

If you have a more jokey relationship with the couple or parent, then something more humorous may suit you better. Crack jokes and puns about the pros and cons of both outcomes. Or, remind them that either way, it’s going to be a mini-them, which means the baby will be a nightmare to handle no matter what.

“Congratulations! I can’t wait to hold your new he or she and give them right back once they do something yucky!”

“Congrats, both! Hope you have as much fun revealing your baby’s gender as you did making him or her!”

“Happy gender reveal day – and remember that either way, you can look forward to a new tax deduction next year – what a win-win!”

    Write something generic

If you don’t know the parents in question too well, or prefer a more generic message, why not write a general congratulations message to express your good wishes and excitement?

“What happy news and whether your child is a boy or a girl, I know your baby will be beautiful.”

“Whether boy or girl, they will be as cute as a button and I am thrilled for you both.”

“We were both so happy to hear your news and wish you well on your gender reveal day.”

A gender reveal is a great opportunity to celebrate with the expectant parents and find out one of the most exciting things of all – whether they will have a boy or a girl. Send a personalized TouchNote congratulations card or heartfelt gift to remind them just how much they mean to you, and how welcome this new baby will be, regardless of gender.

P.S. Don’t forget to congratulate the happy parents when their special baby arrives. Keep your new baby card up your sleeve so it’s ready for the big day.

  • 5 kindness resolutions for 2023

    5 kindness resolutions for 2023

When the holiday season is well and truly over, many of us begin the New Year by making a long list of resolutions. They’re usually focused on tackling our health or bad habits and include promises to eat healthier, give up alcohol, join the gym etc.

But why not ring in the New Year in 2023 by adding in a really meaningful resolution? Add kindness to your list, and as well as improving the wellbeing and happiness of people around you by spreading some joy, you will without a doubt boost your own sense of happiness. It’s a win-win!

When it comes to random acts of kindness, a small gesture or a few kind words in the right place can matter more than you realize. You could make your partner or your mom a cup of coffee, take the time to call or send a text to someone who has dropped off your radar, or even just give a warm smile to a stranger in the street. Or you could pick up some litter from the street, help a neighbor or work colleague, send a thoughtful card or gift to a friend – or just do something kind for yourself.

So spread some happiness in 2023. Brighten up your own life, help improve the environment and your community, read on for our guide to making five New Year’s resolutions that have kindness at their heart.

    Why do we make resolutions?

New Year’s resolutions date back 4,000 years. The Babylonians, Egyptians, Romans and early Christians all recognized that the New Year was a time for making amends and promising to do better.

Babylonians crowned a new king or renewed their allegiance to the reigning king and made promises to the gods to pay off their debts and return anything they may have borrowed. If they kept their resolutions then the gods would reward them with good luck and favor in the year to come (and if not then it didn’t bear thinking about!). The Romans offered sacrifices and made similar promises to the gods in the hope of future prosperity and fortune.

For early Christians, the New Year was more an occasion for reflecting on past mistakes and resolving to do better. They held religious services with hymns and readings – a spiritual alternative to the usual rowdy festivities.

These days, New Year’s resolutions are more about self-improvement and a more secular practice all round. Recent research says that about 45% of all Americans make New Year’s resolutions, and although only 8% keep them, it doesn’t stop them making more the following year. A 4,000 year habit is obviously hard to break.

    Why make kindness your resolution?

Small, selfless gestures and little acts of kindness that may seem insignificant to you can be so much more powerful than you appreciate, helping to create better, stronger relationships and generate happiness for you and the people around you.

In an uncertain world, deciding to focus on kindness and compassion to others can have a knock-on effect all around us. It encourages a positive outlook and enhances the lives of not just family and friends, but acquaintances, work colleagues, neighbors and even people you don’t even know that well. And don’t forget how happy it’s going to make you feel about yourself.

    1. Staying in touch

One of the kindest things to do is to stay close and connect with those you love more often. Why not make a New Year’s resolution to set up a weekly phone call with your Grandma, Grandpa or a relative who lives alone? Or send a monthly postcard packed with eight of the month’s best memories to relatives and friends you don’t see very often. And if you usually text friends, why not call or video call them instead. It’s so much better to see someone in person – even if it is on a screen.

The winter months after the holidays can be a bit depressing, and just about everyone can relate to the January blues (no social life and no money!). So why not make a resolution to organize a coffee morning or cook a mouth watering meal for friends? There’s no reason why you can’t carry on with that one right through the year.

    2. Random acts of kindness

Remember how good it felt when someone did something really nice for you out of the blue? Well how about a New Year’s resolution to pay it forward? You could treat someone to a coffee, send a gift for absolutely no reason at all other than to say you’re thinking about them, volunteer at a local homeless shelter, buy a homeless person a meal or even just compliment one stranger every day.

    3. Be kind to Mother Nature

Just about everybody is aware of the impact of global warming. Even the smallest changes in our own communities, whether you live in a small town or a big city, can help create a healthier and kinder environment for people, plants and wildlife. Make it one of your New Year’s resolutions to set up a litter pick, buy or build a bug hotel or beehouse, hang nest boxes for the birds, or you could make it a point to only plant bee-friendly flowers in your yard or window boxes.

You could also help tackle the thousands of pounds of trash that we generate every year. Try  using homemade cloths made from old towels and clothes instead of buying paper towels, and make the switch to reusable grocery bags to help reduce the plastic waste that negatively impacts our wildlife. Kindness isn’t just for humans.

    4. Never forget a big day

Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries is a great way to show you care and love your friends and family. But sometimes things you plan to do get lost in the mayhem and general busyness of everyday life. TouchNote is a great way to help you with this kindness resolution without having to remember to buy a card early, visit more than one store before you find the perfect one and then get it in the mail on time. You can easily brighten someone’s day today with a card to celebrate their special event.

    5. Find time for self-kindness

There is no doubt that being kinder to yourself is the first step on the road to being kinder to others. So don’t forget to top up your own wellbeing tank too.

Make a New Year’s resolution to do the things that make you happy and positive about your life and your world in general.

Try a yoga or dance class, think of at least two things you like about yourself every day, or keep positive sticky notes at home and at work (where you can see them). Eating a healthier diet is part of being kind to yourself, but don’t forget to treat yourself to something naughty every so often (everyone needs cake now and again).

Make sure to count your blessings every day – your loved ones, friends, accomplishments – whatever makes you feel grateful. And above all, take time to smile – both inside and outside – it will make all the difference to you and others around you.

Kindness is the key to happiness in 2023

Adding some kindness to your 2023 New Year’s resolutions will positively impact you and bring a lot of happiness to all the people around you. So why not start spreading kindness right now and brighten up the day of someone in your world with a TouchNote personalized card or heartfelt gift of kindness?

You’ll feel so much better in yourself just knowing the difference your act has made to loved ones, friends, neighbors, colleagues and even strangers. And hey, you never know, you may even kickstart a trend of kindness in your whole community.

  • Shareable moments from 2022

    Shareable moments from 2022

After almost 2 years of lockdowns and restrictions, 2022 has been a year filled with hope and anticipation. Families who had been separated gathered for New Year celebrations with excitement for the future. Friends and loved ones were free to meet for dinner or get together for coffee and cake. A longed-for holiday became a reality. Couples have finally been able to get married and have their dream day, move to a new home, make plans, and much much more.

Having the freedom to do all the things we only dreamed about in lockdown and generally starting to live our lives ‘normally’ has been amazing. So why not share all the special times you enjoyed this year and the memories you made by creating a TouchNote postcard, postcard scrapbook, photo print or photo card.

    Ways to remember 2022

You may think you’ve already shared your favorite moments all over social media, but there’s something really special about having a physical reminder, such as a poster on the wall, postcards stuck on the fridge or message board at home, or a photo card on the mantle.

But what kind of things should I choose?

There is so much you could share – a graduation, milestone birthday (and the less significant but just as important ones), perhaps a wedding that had been postponed since 2020, family Thanksgiving celebrations, trick or treating and Halloween parties. Or even something simpler like meeting friends for coffee and a good gossip, a girly day at the spa or getting together with family and friends for supper at home.

Take time, look back over your year and scroll through all the photo memories you have on your phone. You’re bound to find fabulous photos that perfectly capture your most memorable moments, ideal to share in a postcard.

    Special occasions

Every year of our lives is punctuated by special occasions: weddings, birthdays, christenings, new births, new homes, proms, festivals, Mother’s Day, 4th of July, and many, many more. Special occasions and events are good excuses to celebrate, and where there are celebrations, there are always people snapping away and capturing the events.

    Holidays and weekends away

For most people, 2022 has offered the first opportunity to travel properly and feel comfortable about it, whether sticking to a vacation in their own country or venturing abroad. If you enjoyed some great trips this year, why not tell everyone about them and share some images of those breathtaking destinations you visited? The bbqs on the beach, campfires, rollercoasters and the overall good times you had with family and friends.

    Big and little achievements

A postcard or photo card could also commemorate an achievement or big change in your life. You may have moved to a new city or state, started a different job, or got a promotion. A bit closer to home, you might have got yourself a new hobby, finished renovating or remodeling your home, or even reached a simple but personally satisfying goal. How about a selfie moment to share your accomplishments with family and friends?

    Moments with friends and family

The best and often most memorable times in any year are those that we spend with our loved ones, friends and family. Revisit the memories of big BBQs in the backyard, family dinners, parties, going to sporting events with good friends, celebrating the birth of a brand new baby, getting together for Easter or Father’s Day, attending a graduation party, or even welcoming a new pet to the family.

    Holiday fun

Of course, really big events stand out in any year, and most of the time, these provide the best photo opportunities to share in postcards and photo cards.

Was your Valentine’s Day a fabulous one? Maybe you even proposed? That sort of event is just tailor made to share in a postcard. Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween are no brainers for photos of every type and especially selfies. Capture the costumes, all the excitement, the fun, the family dinners, parties, gifts and even the disasters!

    The BIG day itself

The year is winding down but the opportunities for more fabulous (and often funny) photos to share are still going. Of course – Christmas is a day that has everything. The excitement of gift giving, tables groaning with festive food, popcorn, eggnog, carol singing, red noses, antlers, stockings, cookies and other yummy treats and surprises.

Are your decorations looking particularly spectacular this year? Who’s wearing the best (or grossest) novelty jumper? And which of the little ones looks the cutest in their yuletide outfit? All will be revealed once you get snapping away. And if you’re a bit camera shy, then how about a few photos of your furry friends in their festive hats and coats?

    Why remember 2022?

2022 has just flown by. So make sure you don’t forget a thing you did, as well as inspiring your friends and family to keep the good times going by sharing your photo memories with them in postcards and photo cards. They’ll be touched that the times you spent together have meant so much to you.

A perfect way to remember 2022

With TouchNote, it’s easy to turn those special moments in 2022 into unique printed postcards and photo cards. Get started today and share those unforgettable memories with loved ones, family and friends – it’s as easy as pie!

  • How to send the BEST Christmas Thank You Cards

How to send the BEST Christmas Thank You Cards

The Christmas celebrations are over, you’ve finished the last of the eggnog and the decorations are back in the garage for another year. So what’s next? Thanking loved ones, family and friends for the fabulous gifts they sent, of course.

Let them know how much their gifts were appreciated – how much fun it was opening them on Christmas morning, how useful they’re going to be and how much pleasure you’re going to get by using them. Our guide will help you create the best and most unique Christmas thank you cards you’ve ever sent, whoever they’re for.

So banish those post-Christmas blues, whip up a mug of hot chocolate, settle yourself down and spoil them with a Christmas thank you card from the heart that they’ll treasure long after the holiday season.

Why send a Christmas thank you card?

It’s important to send thank you cards after Christmas. Receiving a gift in these tough financial times means so much. A thank you card is a lovely way to show appreciation for your family and friends’ thoughtfulness and to let them know the gift arrived. As well as really brightening their day once all the magical holiday festivities are over, it shows how much you care and how grateful you are that they remember you at this time of the year.

Receiving thank you cards is heartwarming at any time of year, but especially at Christmas when most of us spend time thinking about friends and family. And, of course, the perfect gifts for them.

Three’s the charm when creating the BEST card

The essential elements of a brilliant Christmas thank you card include a fabulous design, with or without a photo, a thoughtful message of thanks sent straight from the heart, and sending it as soon after the holidays as you can.

Design: First decide what card suits your loved one the most – either a conventional card or postcard. And then you can design it, with or without photos. You can make the most of TouchNote’s fabulous artwork and designs, or create a photocard and use your pictures from the Christmas holidays. Think fun in the snow, family around the Christmas table, gift opening – the choice is endless!

Message: Once you have your perfect design, it’s time to think about the message. You’ll want to express your thanks, and it’s completely OK to keep it simple and sincere. Or you could make it much more personal. For example, you could add an anecdote or two, or relate a funny story from Christmas Day itself. Did you have to make a last minute run to the store for something essential you’d forgotten? Or do you have a story about Grandma’s teeth falling into the mashed potato or when Auntie Amelia had one too many hot buttered rums and fell asleep at the table?

Timing: it’s easy to procrastinate when it comes to writing thank you cards. But you’ll feel so smug once they’re done right after Christmas. And imagine how pleased your loved ones will be when they realize the time and effort you’ve gone to right after Christmas.

If you follow our three simple steps, you can’t go wrong – we promise!

    Making your design absolutely unique

If you decide that photocards are the way to go for your Christmas thank you card, the next step is choosing one or more pictures from the day or the season in general that show you and your family having a good time. If it looks good, why not take a pic of you using the gift itself?

How about sharing a photo from your holiday festivities? Tucking into Christmas lunch or Christmas Eve dinner, the chaos and mayhem of gift opening on Christmas morning, or even one of the dog or cat with their own gifts for example. Plus, if you want to say thank you for a special gift, add a photo of it in action – maybe the kids playing with the toys they received or yourself in a fab furry hat and gloves.

You may decide that photos really aren’t your thing. And that’s no problem at all when it comes to creating a unique Christmas thank you card. Whoever you’re sending it to – be it Great Grandma or a best friend, TouchNote has a range of cool designs to suit everyone.

    Writing the perfect message

The closer you are to the person who gave you the gift, the more personal you’ll want your message to be. You could add a few details about what a great Christmas it was, or share a funny story.

If you do mention the actual gift, you can say how much you’ve enjoyed using it, or are looking forward to using it. If someone has put in a lot of effort and given you something that is just right, you may wish to add something like “OMG you know me so well”. It’s a fact, people appreciate it when their efforts are rewarded with thanks from the heart.

If you weren’t really keen on the gift you received – and let’s face it, we’ve all been there – it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t say thank you. Not everyone has the talent for gift buying.

Obviously, it makes for a more personal and heartfelt message if it mentions the gift. But don’t worry, a generic message will also be appreciated – different people will suit different thank yous.

    A few examples include:

“Thank you so much – the bracelet was just awesome and I haven’t taken it off since Christmas day.”

“Many thanks for your amazing gift – I can’t tell you how much fun we’ve had with it!”

“I can’t thank you enough for the special gift you sent us for (baby’s name) first Christmas – we will treasure it always.”

“Thank you so much for your gift – so nice of you to think of me.”

“Thank you for your thoughtful gift, it was much appreciated. Happy New Year to you and yours.”

    Timing is everything

Don’t miss the window of opportunity. The perfect time to give thanks is as soon as possible. It’s easy to put off writing thank you cards on any occasion but especially after Christmas when things can look a little dreary and you have the winter blues. Just remember how much it will mean to the person you’re thanking. And if you’re sending a photocard, it gives you the chance to relive Christmas a little bit too.

A thank you card in the mailbox after the holidays can be just the thing to raise friends and family’s spirits post-Christmas. You’ll be surprised to discover just how much an attitude of gratitude helps in nurturing relationships. Words of affirmation and validation form a love language that so many of us can appreciate.

Why Christmas thank you cards go a long way

Shake off your post-holiday gloom and get your New Year off to a flying start by sending a TouchNote Christmas thank you card, and really cheer someone else up at the same time. Remember, however special it feels to receive a card in the mail, believe us when we say that it feels even better to send one.
